Grooming Young Writers

Artistic Strategies Academy is an English writing school based in Singapore, delivering our signature Artistic Writing™ Programme for young writers aged 6 to 14. Developed from the principles of constructivism, Artistic Strategies Academy's signature Artistic Writing™ Programme is a unique and enriching creative writing programme; the first of its kind in Singapore.

Instead of outdated rote-learning and memorisation techniques, our programme grooms young writers to draw inspiration from their own artistic creations and produce original written pieces.

Our Story

Claudine Fernandez founded Artistic Strategies because she had seen too many children feeling disenchanted or disinterested with writing based on her extensive experience as a former teacher at the Ministry of Education (Singapore) and International Baccalaureate (IB) teacher at School of the Arts (Singapore). This was mostly due to the fact that they associated writing with boring memorisation and rote learning techniques and felt disconnected from the stories they were made to write. Such a shame, given that writing is such an important lifeskill!

Something had to change. After graduating from Harvard University with a Master Degree in Arts in Education, she found the solution in marrying arts and writing.

Our Courses

Course Information

As part of this challenge, children get to choose a character to accompany on an exciting adventure. They help the character tell a story and in doing so, learn impactful storytelling techniques. There are five levels to this adventure and each level focuses on a particular part of the story. The best part is they get to earn points throughout the adventure to motivate them.

By the end of the course, children will learn:

1) The basic structure of storytelling
2) How to describe characters and events
3) Choose the best ideas to include in their stories
